Want to confirm JBL sub wiring.

So from the searching I did I found a schematic with black/light green as postive and black/white is negative. Can someone confirm that?

I'm not sure if everyone's gonna approve of what I'm gonna suggest but here goes.....You could try the old 9 volt battery trick. Tap into the two wires going to the sub and hold the two bare wires against the two terminals of the battery. If you have them correct then the sub will pop out. If they're backwards the sub will pop in. The battery will not damage the sub. Just don't use anything larger than a 9 volt and I would not let the signal from the battery go back to the amp. I would just cut the wire and then heat shrink it back together when you have your + and -.

Actually Ford Freak, that is a tried and proven method. No flame suit should be necessary. But try it with a AA 1.5V battery first. It should work with that.

Anthony, I have wiring manuals for 95, 96, and 99 Explorers. No 97. But I just looked at the 96 diagram and it is indeed how you say. Black with light green is positive and black with white is negative.

OK I tried the battery trick on the old sub that I took out. According to the experiment, I have them wired backwards. Now the question is, why in the world would all the wiring diagrams I found have the black/LG wire is positive when the experiment says it's negative?

Maybe the test instructions are backwards??? All I can tell you for sure is what I posted above. That wiring is straight from the book and is exactly how I would wire it if I were you.
