also if anyone is curious im running 22 psi in all 4 tires and getting even treadwear... this is how i figured it out...

Take the max weight that the tire can support (on sidewall) and multiply that by 4. This gives you the total weight that all four tires can support. Next take the weight of your truck and divide that into the total weight. You should get around 1.5-2 something. Now divide this number into the max psi stated on the sidewall and you'll have your ideal air pressure.

For instance:

2500 lbs at 35 psi max

2500 x 4 = 10000

My trac with addons 6000 lbs

10000 / 6000= 1.6

35/1.6 = 21.875 psi

My dad taught me this formula years ago when i started driving because we never had chalk laying around to use. Since i was 16, i've never had any uneven wear on any of the tires of my vehicles. It works great!!!

i havent had it on long enough to really give a good answer but IMO the wear will come from the oversized tires on the balljoints and hub bearings but im ok with that cuz all my parts are warrantied... but so far so good

Good info i'll have to take that into consideration since i'm running 33x13.50s.

finally finished off my system. Ended up with a 10 inch RE audio rex series sub, and Memphis SR series amp 250 watts @2 ohm. Perfect sound I was looking for

Wow, there are some awesome and very nicely modified Tracs in here!! Mine is still pretty much stock and getting kinda run down now, after 12.33 years and >125k miles of remarkably dependable and versatile service. Here it is from many years ago, all shiny and almost new:

Aside from consumables - filters, oil, brakes, batteries - the only thing i've had to replace was the thermostat... a $5 part! I'd call that low-maintenance. The original 255/70-16 Firestones still looked halfway decent when pulled off at 44k to be replaced with Michelins under the recall program, then those lasted another 67k, so up to about 112k I was riding on "OEM" rubber to boot!

Actually, I still haven't had to buy tires - when the "replacement" michelins finally quit, I put on a still-useable set of 245/70's I got when my dad put snow tires on his mountaineer - also Michelins from the recall program. They're about down to the wear bars now in addition to being very old, so I took some "before" pics with the worn out 245's and torsion twisted up:

Pristine and beautiful indeed!!! what was the elevation there? I would have to drive a loooong way to get to somewhere that nice!! Trac looks good too- I read your buildup thread or registry or whatever where you started from stock and showed each mod up to where it is now - nicely done!

Mine is all stock, just TT and step bar delete. Tires and body mounts are toast, and shocks and UCA's are getting pretty worn as well. It's a 2wd, but I don't always keep it on pavement so the replacement parts will be more offroad oriented.

Before they built houses here I think it was rice fields, for miles & miles around, flat as a pancake! This is a vacant lot by the big ditch at the back of my neighborhood - I had to snap the pix FAST, before somebody called the cops!

Seriously, there is a network of giant drainage ditches around here, with nice wide grassy trails on both sides and also pipelines and ginormous power lines with grassy right-of-ways that are like 1/8th mile wide. They are all veeery tempting to go driving around on, pero es verboten!!

I hate that there's no legal places to off road around me. Used to be able to at this river close to me, but they stopped that. Spring Creek off road park used to be big, then that closed. I'm about to go to school at A&M Galveston and there used to be tons of trails to ride there, now that's closed...no hope

thanks widget, the elevation was somewhere between 5500-6000 ft.

TG - there's hope. its called the west! if you want the great outdoors, move west. starting in colorado and the rockies, to southern utah and the great northwest, to my home, california. where i live, i can reach deserts, mountains, forests, snow, beaches, lakes, rivers, city life, and yosemite all within 2 hours of my house. if you dont believe me, just check out my previous explorations. all within a few hours drive of my garage. before the summer ends, im planning on visiting the redwood forests, a few ghost towns from the gold rush days, and in the fall im planning on my first mojave desert run with some buddies, and maybe even hitting up the nextg truck haven.

Lono, I think you have the most photogenic Trac on here. The backgrounds might help.

Yeah that last one rocks! Usually when I'm in the mountains they're all covered with snow, but I have spent some time in southwest Colorado in the summertime. It's very nice, but the trees don't look as cool as the ones at Lono's campsite.

Scope, I was mostly trying to be funny, contrasting the serene mountains with the overcrowded city. but there is a grain of truth in the joke... I doubt anybody would hassle me, unless the lot is owned by one of the homeowners across the street - which I doubt. There is also a water plant across the street, and I think the lot is probly utility district or flood control land, so if any of "those people" came around they might run me off.

TG, you're in my old neck of the wwoods - does Spring hs still have the old ratty lion in the entrance?

Widget, I actually live in The Woodlands so I'm not sure about Spring hs since I don't get out of the bubble often haha. But I'm ready to.
