Hi everyone.
Tommy here, I started working on cars at Midas muffler at 16. So at 46 now that makes about 28 years of really knowing what I was doing. I must have done 40+ brake jobs for my friends at the industrial plant I went 2 after midas.
Now I do have very mechanical skills on Brakes, shocks, and simple under hood things. Buuuut . Sons girlfriend has 94 explorer . They took it 2 a local mechanic with turning over but not cranking. He thought it might be fuel pump.now even I know 2 check relay or at least take fuel line lose before dropping tank. Not him. After dropping fuel tank and saying pump was good ,relay was bad it made it here. Not cranking again ,I swapped relays with A/C . Trying 2 crank A/C kicked in. Changed fuel filter because no gas was coming 2 top line on motor. When I had the fuel filter off tried 2 crank, nothing out of gas line below. Checked inertia switch, it was not popped up,ok right? Disconnected inertia switch, no start. Still no gas. Any help???
Tommy.

Welcome to this forum! Check the PCM relay, and the fuel pump relay. Do you see a check engine light on the dashboard when you turn the key to the accessory position? Check the crankshaft postion sensor, and the camshaft position sensor. Turn the engine with a ratchet or a breaker bar, and listen to see if the fuel pump keeps priming with every movement of your ratchet or breaker bar.

why not cut to the chase, is the fuel pump getting power??

and for shits and giggles see if you have any spark when you crank it, some vehicles will cut the power to the fuel pump if there is an ignition failure

yes, but you need someone to turn the key to on, you should get power for about 2 seconds

Have you thought about the possibility of water in the gas? I was working on a lumina just this week that had the same issues, had spark, good crank sensor, but no fuel going to the engine. Turns out that water had filled about a quarter of the tank and it ran over 900 to fix at the local shop.

hes not getting any fuel from the fuel line = fuel pump is not pumping

if th eFP is not pumping then you check the fuse and connections
If that looks good then you check for power and signal at the relay.

If that looks good check the relay

If power is being sent to switch relay on and then the relay is sending power to the pump then you check for power at the fuel pump wiring plug

if the power is there, you likely have a bad fuel pump
