Ham Radio - CB - Trail Communications I have found that fourwheeling and ham radio go hand in hand. Post any questions or comments about the great hobby of amateur radio here. Of course CB'ers are welcome also. Ray, AE6H and Joe, N1LVN both moderate this forum.

Is the antenna brand new? If not, check the coaxial for any splits or "flat" parts. That has happened to me numerous times and considerably affected my transmission range.

Other than taking the 3.3 reading have you done anything ?

If not you need to take a reading on channel one and then on channel 40.

Based on these reading you will know if the antenna is too long or too short.

After that you can start adjusting.

What make antenna ?

You said Magnet mount, is it a s/s mast or fiberglass ?

Not that it would change the SWR Readings but how do you have the CB power lines hooked up ? (a noise thing)
