Watching movies on Xbox 360

So I have had a 360 for a while and about 5 months ago hooked it up to my LCD with HDMI cables. Since then when ever a disk has a smudge or scratch or something the screen goes static and I get static through the stereo. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem or not.

It's because you're using the Xbox 360 to watch DVDs. Granted games are written on DVD discs, it's normally loading then stopping, nto working continuously.

Only thing I can say is make sure all the disc are clean, the few dvds I've watched with it I have hte same problem, but I just eject them, clean em, and pop them back in. It's worth getting an actual DVD player that'll display in HDMI so you don't wear out the disc drive.

some xbox 360's have a problem with the intensity of the laser in the drive, if you ware handy with small bolts and a multimeter you can fix it, basically you just measure the resistance of a circuit and bump it up to increase your laser output, thus having less "bad disk errors" i don't have a link for the procedure but there are many sites with it online if you google for it.

Probably the best site for Xbox 360 mods and repair.

I'd just send it off if it's under warranty. I didn't get the red light, but my drive was loud as hell. I sent it off, and when I got it back it was amazing at how quiet it was.

That sounds like the beginning of a cold solder joint failure on the mother board. If its still under warranty have it repaired asap.

Yeah, it's really easy. You just register the Xbox at Xbox.com, they send you everything. The box, packing stuff, even the sticker to ship it back. It's great. It took 2 weeks and 5 days to get the box, ship it back to them, and get it back when I had mine fixed.

You must have had better luck then me lol. I had the 3 red lights, I sent my Xbox 360 in 4 times to try to get it fixed. After getting the 3 red lights yet again, the 5th time, Microsoft sent me a new console.

I bought mine in September of 2007. Supposedly any unit sold after the Red Light Catastrophe was supposed to have been fixed, so I shouldnt' get that error. My error was I'd put in any disc and it'd get a disc read error or freeze.

Only thing is I wish I had got a unit with HDMI output, I have non-HDMI, and sure enough I have a HDTV now... I think I'll probably end up trading it in at some point and getting a HDMI output.
