CAN

Woo Hoo, my first post!

I bought a black 2000 Explorer Sport 4X4 about a month and a half ago and haven't regretted it one bit (okay, there's the rear wiper that doesn't clean properly, but that'll get fixed).

I've been enjoying the posts on this board and have learned a lot, like where to find the keypad code (in the tire jack compartment) and all sorts of neat stuff. Funny enough I had read the anti-SUV book "High and Mighty" before buying the Explorer Sport. The 'horror' stories in it merely resolved my desire to buy a SUV. Face it, if you're a lousy driver, it doesn't matter what you drive, you're still a lousy driver.

After spending an inordinate amount of money the past month or so on (touchless) car washes I finally had a chance tonight (in 2 degree Celsius weather) to use the power washer my wife gave me for Christmas...a toy that's 'supposed' to be for cleaning the siding and back deck! I took it out and zapped off about a week's worth of salt and crud. Felt great, but I can't wait for the first really nice day to take out a pail, a jug of Armorall wash, a bag of cotton diapers (a tip picked up on another site), plus a good wax/polish. That's when I can really go to town!

I don't really belong here

Hey you nut job!

I'm a wiener, I guess. Because I don't intend to take my Explorer off road too much. Except to tow my dirt bikes. But I am looking forward to all of your crazy stories.

Glad to be aboard.

All the best.

Welcome Aboard Chris!

Yes, there are quite a few lowered Xs here. Just take a quick look through the Sport Truck forum to see some nice pics. To determine whether your engine is an OHV or SOHC, just pop the hood. If it says SOHC on top of the engine, you have an SOHC. It is says EFI on top of the engine, you have a OHV.

Hi to all

Found this great forum on google search. Have just purchased the Explorer Sport 2003 end of year clearance. Thought I was getting a regular Explorer with the only diff being the 2 doors instead of 4, however after getting home found out it was a different suspension . However, although it doesn't have independent suspension in the back, it should be OK. A little jumpy over bumps if sitting in the back seats, but better than our Mustang. It is the XLT with the Premium Sport package, posi-trac in the rear. It really is the nicest vehicle I have had. Power around town is great, and it turns much easier on the corners than I expected it to. Is there anyone here that has found a good cargo area protector and/or organizer that they like? Ford dealer has one, but I would like to see if there is anything better available. Again, hi to all, and thanks to those providing this forum.

Hey, my names Justin.I live in the Kansas City area. I haven't bought an X yet, i plan to buy one around late november/ early december. Trying to decide what year I want and if I want a 5spd or not. It's going to be lowered on 18's or 20's and be a daily driver, so any suggestions let me know, nothing newer then about 98 though*can't afford anything newer haha.

I've been reading here for awhile, just havent posted till now. Its a great site!
