Season's Greetings to all the Ford enthusiasts on this forum. My last Ford was a 99 Windstar. In 2001 I tried an Explorer but found it too rough a ride for my liking. Since then I have leased 3 Toyota Highlanders, the current one being an '09 Limited with 32 payments to go. When I heard the 2011 Explorer was no longer on a truck frame, I told a friend I was very interested in it where upon he said that he would take my Highlander off my hands. We agreed that for $10,200 he could take over the remainder of the lease. That total includes $5000 as a partial refund on my initial downpayment plus $5200 that is a refundable security deposit that would go back to him at the end of the lease. I placed my order for the Explorer on Dec. 17th and was advised it was sent in on the 20th. Likely looking at a 6 to 12 week delivery period. That hopefully will put it in a time frame where I won't have to put winter tires on it right away.

Does anyone know about engine code: P1401? I took my 02 explorer for smog and it did not pass smog due to mutimissfiring. I took it to the shop and they came up with the code P1401 which only Ford dealership can only know. I know very well the amount ford will charge can be unbearable. Can anyone here help me?

Hey all I've got a '91 Ford Areostar had three different shops look at it now but none can seem to find / solve the problem. Problem is a fast idle. It will idle at 1,200 to 1,700 RPM when in gear and jump to 2,200 RPM when in Park or Neutral. Any suggestions?

Welcome aboard!

P1401 DPFE Circuit High Input. I would recommend changing the DPFE Sensor.

Here you go: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/...58&postcount=4

Hope this helps out.

orange New guy alert lol 4wd problems

I'm a young buck from NC and my one and only vehicle is a '96 4wd explorer 4.0 eddie, and the now the 4wd part is questionable. I am currently trying to fix my 4wd. I read just about all forums on this problem and i figured out its not the transfer case, when the switch is turned to 4 auto or 4lo the front shaft begins to spin, I think its the actuator or vacuum problems any advice out there from the pros,

btw i hate stealership prices

Thanks in advanced

Noob here 1st post

Hello everyone, new poster here looking to soak up as much info as I can.

I have a 97 Xlt AWD 5.0 v8 and I think the engine crapped out.
Two freeze plugs popped out about two weeks ago. I live in PA and it was pretty cold! Well I bought two of those expanding rubber plugs and installed them, then I filled up the cooling system with antifreeze and fired her up. There is a lot of noise coming from it (sounds like lifters chattering to me) it revs freely But it overheats after warming up. I think its mixing coolant with oil and
I'm afraid something is cracked somewhere. I'm not sure what to do next. I always do my own repairs sometimes with help but I don't have cash right now for parts because I'm laid off for the week. As soon as I get the cash I'm going to fix it but what would be the best course of action? Should I try to fix this engine or replace it?

And a quick question about explorers in general...why do most of the explorers i see around here sag in the rear? mine is lower int he back and it seems like a common problem from what I see. what is the cause and how do I fix that too?
