Hello Hope you all are better than me.XXXXXXXXXXtra deep snow here in Tulsa and My Truck started actin up at about 10degrees.Seems like the starter is not engaging...I can hear it spinning but not engaging flywheel/I was running fine started to miss and quickly got worse until it died on me .Wasnot overheating or anything .I did notice the odor of oil though just before hand.Anyone with advice on this would surely be apprecieted.Thanks Earl

Hey my name is Paul and I just joined I have a 1996 Mazda B4000 pickup that so far has been the most reliable vehicle I have had. over 300,000 on it and about 150,000 on a used engine and still going strong.

Hello everybody my quest lead me to Google and i am happy i landed here.
Well developed site clean and good navigation. I do some HTML web publishing
and built my web sites all about my auto repair shop in old bridge, NJ.I have been in the auto industry since 1968 the age of 15. I am still learning something new.

I am here because i have a 2001 Ford Explorer XLT in the shop and the front end shudders at slow speeds on turns as if the 4 wheel drive is engaged.
The switch is off i checked for a diaphragm on the front none present. I suspect it is the module stuck in 4 wheel drive. Any and all replies are welcome.

till now. Had the fuel pump replaced & now the idle sticks.
Only have 75K on it. Seems its time to get on a good forum

Hi,
I'm a newbie to the X, but not to 4wheeling or to wrenching. I just sold my beloved 87 Samurai and bought a 99 Explorer Sport. I have already placed new lights on all corners, put on 31x10.50x15's, added K&N cold air induction and installed indiglo reverse glow gauges. I am currently installing fog lights and replacing both front door lock actuators. Glad to be here!

Hi I am from Italy and I am new in the USA. I would like to buy a second hand Ford Explorer. On Craiglists I found one that meets my budget is it 1998 Explorer sport 2dr

The sellers on his/her ad stated:

Original owner, new tires; 6 cly 4.0;
217,000 miles, runs great, serviced regularly as required for 13 years;
All factory options included; $2200.00

I don't know if that mileage is too much and how many miles the engine can run if well maintained and serviced of course. If you think it may be worth to be bought how much can I offer for it?

With that mileage, I'd say that the price is a bit on the high side, unless the vehicle is absolutely spotless.

I've got 225K on my '00 XLS that I got from the original owner and have really no complaints...if properly maintained, these babies can hit 300K and keep moving.

Explorer is really not a rarity around here, so you may want to be patient and shop around for a good deal.

From the pictures it looks in good condition, of course a visual inspection will be required. I want to ask the owner to provide me with all the works records he made and willing to offer $1500 which is less than what is stated on KBB for the same vehicle in good conditions

I'm by no stretch of imagination an Explorer expert in any respect, pricing included.

I'd take someone who's familiar with these vehicles with me prior to making an offer. Let them do the talking...foreign accent might have people presume that you're a sucker...talking from personal experience here...

The Sport looks pretty clean. If it's clean indeed, and I were a buyer, my offer would be similar to yours.

Hello, My name is Rob...kinda feel like I'm in a support group!! haha Anyway...I have an 02 Explorer XLT that I've owned for a little over 4 years now. I've had all the common issues with this one...wheel bearings...transmission and now the rear end. It's been whining for some time, I guess I was hoping it would last a little longer but the pinion seal has blown I believe as there is oil all over the back gate and I get a killer vibration now when power is applied to rear end. I'm hoping someone can help me with parts, replacement recommendations with this issue. I also have a couple smaller issues I'd like to deal with as well but right now have bigger fish to fry. It was refreshing to find this site. It's good to be here and hope to hear from you all soon. Best regards....Rob
