US Hello

Had to join as I have enjoyed all the posts... Been waiting on my 2011 Explorer Limited build date of 1/19. Getting impatient like everyone else.

New forum member. I have 2002 Eddie Bauer V8. It is a AWD and has 93K. It's a "dealer queen"...original owner and 90% service by dealer. I had a trans rebuilt under warranty and and out of warranty AC repair. My wife uses it on the weekends and I use it to tow my foxbody mustang racecar to the track about 6 times a year.

I would like to save some $$$ and paint the roof rack my self. Any suggestions on how to remove the rack, paint it and then re-install it? I lost one of the caps and looks like I would need to remove them to paint it.

Thanks.

Hi, I am new to this forum. I just happened upon it doing a google search on my check engine light,I really hate working on my own vehicle, but with the economy and my finances in the shape it it is I may be a frequent visitor to keep my 98 EB up to snuff. If I learn anything during the process that may be of help to anyone out there I will pass it on.

4.0 liter swap

Thanks for the invite to this forum. I came here because I own several Ford trucks. I currently have a '98 2wd automatic that has some serious mileage and engine issues. It is a Colorado truck and is extremely clean, so I would like to save it if possble. I also have a 91 Sport with 136k on it. The '91 has a host of issues, so much so that I was considering scrapping it. Gas tank leak, rust and needs new clutch and exhaust. However, it runs very well. Both vehicles are 4.0 L. Is it possible to swap the '91 into the '98, and if so what do I need to be aware of ?

Hello all I am Camellia. I have 2 Explorers 2000XLT & 1995Limited. I am in my early 40's and have been driving them since my great grandfather gave me his when I was 18 or so. The only other thing I drove was a Ford Windstar when my children were little.
I Love Love Love my trucks and wish I could fix them before I go crazy!
The 95 doesn't want to go into any gear not 1st, 2nd, or 3rd yet it still drives wherever I want it to take me. When it does go into a gear and I never know what gear its in, its because I forced it to by keeping the speed so high that it then jerks so hard it that I could get whiplash. I never quite know the speed because the speedometer no longer keeps true speed. When it goes out of gear the speedometer goes to '0' and stays there till it kicks back into a gear. Since I've had this 1 I've changed the transmission at lease 5 times in a 2 yr period. Can anyone help! I just want it fixed!
My 2000 just started making a jerking sound as if its putting itself into 4 wheel drive just for going over a bump, then that occasional noise under the back of the truck became an all the time noise. I took it to the Strauss and they told me that my rear differential had gone, I needed a new rear end & they didn't do that kind of work. My friend and I matched the gear ratio to one at a junk yard and he installed it, lo and behold the same noise! While taking it to the Strauss this time it wouldn't go into 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear like the 1995 and when the Strauss guy test drove it we barely made it around the block. He said the purchased rear was a bad one to and that my transfer case is now bad as well. When driving it less than a mile back home I stopped to enter the highway and it wouldn't go anymore. Luckily, my daughter was behind me and pushed me with the 95 the rest of the 4 blocks home... I pray theres someone that can help.
On tuesday the junkyard will deliver the replacement rear and collect the 1st one and I'm guessing that my friend and I should be replacing the transfer case at the same time?!? Can someone help, before I break down in tears, burn them both and buy hondas!!
Thanx for any help
Camellia

Hi for Seattle

Just picked up a 98 XLT and am fixing all the small things, door locks, rear wiper. Just did the radio fix so I can read it. Worked out well. Had a 1993 EB XLT 2 door that we put 267,00 miles on since new. Tranny went and I had a bad head gasket so I picked up the 98.
Just looking for fix's that others have done, Bill
