Dk Exp Custom Shop? Excellent!

Hey FMU,

Sounds great! Since you've been lurking, you know how we love photos! Show the builds, and if it's something that folks here might be interested in as a DIY project, we love specs, too.

Hope to hear more from ya.

We're currently doing a custom turbo build for a 2006 Explorer, and we figured we'd share our progress with a board that's chock full of Explorer enthusiasts! We've been lurking the boards for quite some time as the build started, and now that things are moving along, we'd like to let the rest of the Explorer-inclined world know what we're up to!

Can't wait to start posting

Hey NJ2NH - check out this thread. We have a Ford Corporate rep working with us directly

First Ford Purchase

We finally did it. We just bought my wife an '02 Limited V8, and we love it. My bro has an '04, my parents have started driving Fords in the last few years, and my other bro is a Ford dealership mechanic (and Ford owner, naturally). We've already found a few quirks we need to work out, but I'm confident this forum will get me through it.

Thanks to all fellow owners for the wealth of info!

Hi I have a forest green 1997 explorer, from New. I love it, even though I only do about 4,000 miles a year in it. I live in central London, I've always had big cars like Range Rovers. I was doing the launch advertising for Ford at Ogilvy and liked it, so I got one. To haul a boat, do a bit of countryside, camping etc, and generally shifting big stuff around the city. Unfortunately my car is at near death, as one of the electronic keep fobs wore out, the rubber button. I bought a new fob from Dagenham motors, a big dealer in West London. They tried to programme it , but say the Bosch system, linked to the door lock and immobiliser, has never been good, and gave up after 5 hours work, and with help from the Ford technical department. There's only 70,000 miles on the clock, no rust, new tyres and it goes like a bomb. There's at least another 10 years of active life in it. So I put it to them that this really competent car would have to be scrapped, if my only working key fob died, or was lost. They affirmed that. Surely madness. I can't be the only person with this dilemma. Does any one out there with techy savviness, know how to get my second new fob programmed, or even if I can overide the locking/immobiliser system. I hear that this could be the Explorer's achilles heel. Any knowledge out there? cheers Gass, London.

Hello from Vancouver!

Hi everyone. Brand new here. Been lurking for a week or so but decided to join. Well, I finally got my Explorer. She's a 1996 XL 4.0. She's got a few minor bumps and bruises but runs and drives beautifully. The interior is mint. I'm glad I found this place though...I've got a few things to figure out and could certainly use your guys expertise. I've been checking out some of the posts and you guys really know your stuff, so be prepared for lots of questions! lol.

My name is Joe. This is the first forum I've ever joined so i dont have much practice posting.

My parents had a 1998 Explorer which I remember well from my childhood. I am 17 now and I have been looking to buy my first car. I found this forum while searching for Ford Explorers. I read some of the off roaring stories and looked at some photos and now I am 100% sure I want to buy one. I hope to buy a 2004 Explorer Eddie Bauer 4X4 this Friday or Saturday. I plan on doing some gradual work on the Explorer and I would eventually like to go to Redington with some of my friends who have Jeeps. I don't have much experience working with cars so I was hoping some of you might be able to help me out with info or links or whatever. I have a feeling this is going to be an amazing first car. Hope to hear from you guys soon.

hey Guys and Gals:
I'm new here and to trucks in general. I have wanted a ford for as long as I've wanted a car(pretty long time), and finally got my way last week. I bought an '03 Ranger 4x4. Figured I'd find a place where I can get as much information as possible about my new truck.
