Question about a 1991 explorer
Hello,
First off, I am new here! and though I have browsed the site for awhile, I am just now joining. My question is concerning a 1991 Ford Explorer, I have a lead on one for very cheap, and it is in great cond. although the tranny is slipping. Is it worth to pick it up and put a new tranny in it? Anyone know a guide for doing it? I just swapped a tranny out and in, in my 1988 2wd ranger, so I dunno if the explorer are hard or ifs it even worth doing. any help would be great! |

Is the one you're eyeing a 2wd or 4x4?
I had a Blazer several years ago that was 4x4, and had to replace the tranny. That job was not fun. ![]() Not saying it'll be the same on the Explorer, but I feel that 4x4's in general are worse than normal 2wd. Worse as in more difficult. |

Its got an A4LD in it...
If you replace it, be sure to find a quality rebuild, or you might lose it again in 60-90k miles. |
