you have what are you going to do with it? lights? winch? depending on what your gonna do i would say if you have any metal skills just make something basic. if you dont any metal fab shop or something of the sort can do it but its gonna cost you $$

thats a bummer. um any metal shop will mostlikely do it. sometimes if you have a local high school with a metal shop they will do it for free all you have to do is pay for meterial. thats what my brother did.

Pottsy of BBPFab.com is a Vendor and has some nice choices. I think he is working on a 2nd gen bumper?

I was looking at pottsy's stuff the other day but i really liked the look of the src tube bumper that boominxplorer used..
![]() i dont have a body lift yet and i know it would take some modifications to the front end of the frame but this thing looks really nice for a starter bumper.. ![]() ![]() how hard do you guys think it would take for me to get this properly mounted? I'm thinking remove the frame horns/bumper mounts, notch the top flat piece on the src bumper, slide it into the frame till you get the nicest angle/setting then weld it on.. you think this can be done in a welding shop? |

That looks nice for any bumper!
It's going to take some cash unless someone can help you work out brackets. Also, you will be adding things... a little extra because there don't appear to be any light brackets/holders.

it has 4 light brackets already and welded d-ring tabs.. maybe i can just make the cuts and a welding shop can just attach it?
i'm only concerned about not having a bodylift and clearance issues.. I dont want to make a mistake of buying it and end up not using it.. |

Have the shop fab the brackets to place it where you want.

I'll be moving to CA on the last week of April next year and i'll actually be driving my mounty cross country from VA.. 2670.40 miles of fun ![]() clearance with the body i guess.. based on boomin's photos, the bumper has a slight slope towards the brackets and my car not having any bodylift i might need to cut something.. or i can just stick it out a bit and pull the bumper as close to the body as i can.. the bumper will cost around $280 shipped and with my most recent unfortunate event, a tube bumper is a whole lot cheaper way to go.. |

Ask Froader about the clearance issue, but it doesn't sound like you'll have one. If anything bumpers enhance the clearance. I'm skeptical about the pricing (not Pottsy)... do you know the weight of the bumper?

yeah, clearance from the ground would definitely be improved..
i'm not sure about the weight but here's a link to 4wheelparts.. http://www.4wheelparts.com/prodDetai...eep-parts=true and the manufacturers website: http://www.smittybilt.com/product/index/8.htm i cant find the site with the cheaper price but i'm sure i will again sometime soon.. regarding the price, do you think it's too expensive? |

Have a peek here...
http://www.alljeep.com/oscommerce/in...acturers_id=39 If it's made for Jeep, you can count on some additional fabrication... |

damn, those things are expensive!
i dont think i'll spend that much then have a shop re-fit it to my application.. but in your honest opinion, will the src bumper be doable without any hardcore modifications besides cutting and bracket fabrication? |

The smittybilt is cheap because it's a smittybilt. If you like that one, just go for it.
Here is a pic of how it mounts to boomin's. It looks like there might be enough room for it to fit without the bodylift too. That should be easy for a shop to mount where you want it. Take that pic that you posted with you and tell them you want it to look like that. ![]() __________________ COLIN IGNACIO FORUM RULES My 2010 Explorer - Explorer #1 (sold) - Explorer #2 (sold) - My F-150 (sold) - My Ranger (sold) - My Videos |

It's made for a Jeep, so yes, you will likely have to pay extra for a proper fit - especially on the front end. I got two of those fourreal bumpers - heavy as heck! The rear had to have brackets made for width issues, and to add a 265/70 spare. The front one is in the garage pending the welder's torch! I paid 1/2 price for each one...
For the price, the labor costs, etc... the cost will surprise you... Think about it before you buy. I'll see if I can find a fabricator in your area... |

it's cheap because its a smittybilt.. <- is it cheap because smittybilt markets less reliable products than the rest?
the shop estimate to repair my front end damage costs around $980.. if i can get the total cost of getting a tube bumper plus costs of a shop mounting it for me for half of $980, i'll be more than satisfied.. Thanks for all your inputs guys!! I'm still open for more suggestions/advice since i still have more than a month to plan this till the court hearing vs. the guy that crashed my car gets done and over with.. (yeah, i sued him.. consumer affairs is on his ass too..) |
