Muffler Silencers?

Anyone used a muffler silencer? How do they work, what can I expect, and will it help with the overly loud nature of my muffler (Borla ProXS to Y pipe dual 4" tips)?

All they do is restrict air flow and tame the sound down a little.

Look for a resonator, which is not exactly like a muffler. There are tons of cheap mufflers which are described like resonators. The cheapest unit which I believed was a resonator and not a tiny muffler, was about $55. I bought one $75 resonator for my V6 truck, it was a good brand and stainless steel.

Those 4" tips that you have are about 33% why your truck is "overly loud." If you make the tailpipe tips smaller, the sound will be quieter.

Do make sure that the tips come out beyond the body of the vehicle. Any sound from the tips which can bounce up under the body will make it much louder. Good luck,
