Flashing O/D Light

I've tried searching for my issue but have not found anything, if there already is a thread point me to it.

I'm gettingt he stupid flashing O/D light, along with the CEL. I read the DTC codes and they are P0740 and P0743. I understand this refers to the torque converter clutch circuit malfunction and torque converter clutch electrical.

What is happening is the car is locked into overdrive. The transmission will stall the engine unless i manually shift into first gear. I've been advised it may be a blown fuse, i am going to check that out. If anyone has any knowledge on the issue i would appreciate any info.

It could be a problem with the solenoid block or the valve body. How many miles does it have? Do you have the 5R55W (no dipstick)?

I have 2003 Sport Trac with 5R55E, with a transmission dipstick. I have 42,000 miles.

I checked the overdrive fuse and it is not blown.

I haven't had any other tranny issues as of yet, not even the 2-3 flare.

What are my options for repair is this a possible DIY with a lift and shop available.

The 5R55E has individual solenoids so you wouldn't have to replace a block. The sticky thread called the 5R55E valve body rebuild diary has more information.
