Camping on pch

Alright everyone, im planning a trip in the next few months, i would like to take a few days up the coast to enjoy the scenery. Im camping the whole way up, and most likely the whole way back. Ideas on where to stay? did you find a campground that was just so amazing that you will be going back? tell me about it, let me know.

...You might want to check out Portola State park...I know the Ranger up there and that area is scenic..

I am more looking for ideas like camping in the pismo area, except not actually on the beach, or possibly some good sites around San Simeon area. I will be staying in the Big Sur campground but does anyone know about camping in areas such as Carmel?
