Cool '91 Explorer XLT 4x4 4.0, That "ringing"sound; SF,CA.

WHAZZUP! We bought our '91, Nov/2007, put in a K&N air filter, oilfilter, some Royal Purple, new spark plugs & wires. When we got her she already had 299,388 mi. it now has 311,664 mi. and gets about 13-14 MPG city,is that good for this 6-cylinder ?
And just the other day I was pullin' into a parkin' garage and as I was goin' up the ramp I heard a 'ringing' sound , found a parkin' space and asked my fiancee' to put the gear shift into gear and keep her foot on the brake while I listened under the hood {to see if I could trust her}[LOL] and find where that noise was commin' from , since the noise only is heard when the vehicle is under stress, i.e goin' up the ramp, givin' a 'lil gas in drive with foot on brake.
My guess it is the water pump but that sound is usually more like a "sqeal". And the sound does seem to be commin' from that area ,could this be the problem "ringing" water pump, before it gets worse and begins to "sqeal" ?
Thanx, Daddy "T"

....You can pull your serpentine belt and play with all your pulleys to see if any are loose or to tight to turn...I would especially check the belt tensioner and Idler pulley...I hope this helps...

Welcome to this forum! It's possible that it could be a sound from under the hood, but sounds travel, so check your exhaust too.
