oil pressure gauge low

oil pressure gauge low

in my wifes 95 exp with 4 litre 6 shows the oil pressure low. lower than usual anyway. its at like a quarter when it used to be halfway. i changed the oil and filter and its still kinda low. any thoughts? jeff

Welcome to this forum! The sending unit could be bad. You could confirm the reading if you have a test guage to connect to where the sending unit is.

Probably a bad sender. Its not a real gauge, it should only should half or nothing.

The sending unit is on the engine, and the guage is in the instrument cluster.

Look in the drivers side wheel well at the bottom front of engine. There should be wires going into a spot around where water pump is. That's where it was on my 99 OHV Ranger. Idk how different a 94 OHV is.

I meant bottom front as in front of the side, not front of engine. It's on the side, just front most part.

Drivers side of the engine, towards the front. Pretty much behind the power steering pump.
