In all honesty, I want the street look but don't want to completely ruin the off-road capability. Do you have any pics of your painted grille? Liking the idea of that

If you end up removing your rack let me know. I need new cross members.

Just took these shots real quick out in the driveway so they're nothing special, but you get the idea. I'm thinking about getting the lower trim painted black to match the rest of the truck. Thoughts?

I agree, Im a fan of "stock looking" wheels. I went with some limited rims on my 04. I got them on craigs list, with the new tires for $400 plus my old rims and tires. This guy deals in rims and tires out of his garage, he had a bunch of nice factory rims from various manufactures.

TheNastyZ28-I can tell from the first picture that you must have a nice camera? Explorer looks good as well and I would paint the trim too(but at the same time I like it?). There have been a few people that have talked about doing the same and there should be some write-ups or at least some coming.

Yes, photography has been a hobby of mine for a few years now. I'm also torn on painting the trim, I can't decide because while I see all-black explorers on sites like this and love them, there is something about the gray trim on this that I really like.

I have a rather decent air compressor and automotive paint gun and have used it to do automotive painting in the past, so I figure I'd probably do it myself, but I just don't know if I want to. I'm getting a set of running boards in the mail in a week or two, so hopefully putting those on will help me decide.

Here is my page for you do look at. I took off the grill, taped off the chrome trim and emblem and applied a few coats off spray paint. Seems to be holding up and looks better than the gray stockers.

I like that, especially on a dark color car.... makes the front end look much cleaner. Thanks for the tip

Yes they are, got a really good deal on them too. Same bolt pattern and offset, and are only about half an inch taller than the stock 16s with the 245/50/20 tires.

Edit: Sorry, they are from an MKX, not an MKZ.

And nevermind about being unsure whether or not I wanted to paint my trim black. Just did a quick photoshop of one of my pics and instantly made up my mind.

blumagic- I like the theme you have going on, but I hope you'll upgrade the tire size once those wear out because it must be a rough ride with thin sidewalls? Either way it's looking good
