Which Tire

Which tire would be better for my driving style.

Tire size will be 265/70/17 @ stock ride height.
  • I drive a lot of highway
  • I drive aggresively
  • I will be using this tire year round so being able to tackle any type of weather including snow is very important
  • light off roading; maybe if I have good tires I'll be a bit more brave then with my worn out 245's. I'd like to take the mounty out a bit this summer though.

also, how do 265/70's fit on the stock 17" mounty rims?

any help is appreciated guys. Thx!

Here is what the Bridgestone's look like and these are 265/70/17 stock explorer wheels.

Now i do prefer Nitto Terra grappler A/T's but these where the right price so i picked these up.

take a look at the goodyear silent armors. i dive the same way you do and rain snow or just about any condition the work awesome. never slid unless you really push it and wanna slid it around. they do have a little hum to them but nothing really bad. wear on these are awesome i have about 50xxx miles on them and still have a little more then half thread before i even hit the wear bars.

after reading ton of reviews on tirerack and everywhere else till i was sick. . . .I'll actually be getting MICHELIN LTX A/T2 in a 245/65-17 size this week. I had a previous set on my heep for 70,000miles, awesome tire, no matter what i threw at it snow, ice, rain, dirt it never slipped, it was quiet, smooth, soft tire. This time with the AWD i'm going to get 5 tires and do the 5 wheel rotation. . .

your mounty is the same color as mine and i also have vent visors and chrome handles so your pic gives me a good idea of how they will look.

The silent armors are a bit pricey. I'm on somewhat of a strict budget.

keep the feedback coming!

Why not BFG A/T's?

They are just about the most aggressive looking A/T on the market and have a decent highway tread life as well. They always receive solid reviews online as well.

I personally like the General Grabbers AT2. Cheaper then BFG A/T but have similiar tread pattern and very good reviews.

I have Firestone Destination AT's and payed around $650 with road hazard and lifetime balancing/rotation. They were actually rated number 1 on tire rack so that's why I bought them. Now I am looking to sell since I have new rims to put on.

I'm running Yokohama Geolander HT-S on the Ex and my F-150. These tires are outstanding. Great traction and good handling. The price really capped it for me. I ran the Geolander AT's on my '94 Ex. I liked those too, but for year round... I'm liking the HT-S

Here's what they look like on the Ex (275/70/16).

Yes, but we don't have any filtering or anything. Besides, I'm the IT Administrator, I wouldn't block my own stuff anyway .

But we have a pretty basic setup so idk why its not showing it.

Hmmm, I don't know. Still can't see it? I am looking at it again I am likeing the sidewall on those. Neat little design and they are not really agressive. Goatman- noticed you have different exhaust exit, do you have a new muffler and soundclip? Sucks shadowless can't see any of this

+1, that's what I'm rolling on

Fission- Are those hubcaps on your rims? If so, you may want to pop them off and spend a day to sand that rust down on the rims w/some black paint on there to make them really shine

Edit-I saw the wheel weight on the rim and realized it's not a hub cap. Gosh I am retarded

Hey Limited, I went to 2.5 inch pipe from behind the third cat and put in that Edlebrock. I don't have a clip handy. The sound is not as loud as the 40 series Flowmaster, but opens up nicely when pushed on.

Shadowless, Have you been able to see those pics yet? If you are real interested, I'll email them to you. I'm hoping that you've fixed why you can't see them.
