2004 Explorer - Caliper Pin Question

Replacing the pads and rotors on my sister's 2004 Explorer XLT 4WD.
When I pulled the caliper pins to grease, I noticed there are two different style pins. Pin A and Pin B - See pic below.

On the drivers side caliper, Pin A was on the bottom (leading) and Pin B was on the top (trailing) side of the caliper.
On the passengers side caliper, Pin A was on the top (trailing) and Pin B was on the bottom (leading) side of the caliper.
This seemed strange ... I would have expected the same style of pin to be located in the same position (leading/trailing) in the caliper.
I know the pads have been replaced previously ... possible the pins were switched when reassembled.

Does anyone know which pin goes where in the caliper?
My Haynes manual does not clarify and I don't have a shop manual.
Thanks for your help.

Rich,
I'd say if there was no ill effects as it was, put it back like it was.

Thanks T.
That's probably what I will do ...
... but I would like to know for sure the correct locations for the pins.

Anyone else have any info on this?

Thanks.

I found this too. Keeping track of what came out of where i swapped them to see if it made a difference. Yes, when one was in the wrong way it was lose compared to the other, which was tighter. When put in the correct way there was no slop in either of them, both felt snug the same amount.

Subarus have these too. I found its easiest to buy a pin kit and replace the sleeve. They always seem to bunch up on me when ai reuse them. Put them back the way you found them.
