I found an Explorer group on the internet but it was 90% spam and many of the
questions (some very simple) submitted were never answered by anyone.
Fortunately, someone posted this group's URL and here I am.
If anyone thinks they can help somebody, take the time to post your experience.
That's what good groups are all about...See you soon

I have a 2000 Ranger XLT at 100k miles and a few annoying problems. I'd been looking for info on things like heater core and that crazy DPFE problem, and here I am. I'm in Wake Forest, NC.

Great forum - lots to learn, happy to have found it !

I used to have a Mazda B2000 (4cyl), and found the Ranger on a trade. I really like the ride and features. Once I get a few problems solved, it will be gold.

I am fortunate to have a nearby dealer that will not only let the mechanics talk with me (since I do a lot of my own work), they've even loaned me shop manuals!! Who does that? I'll be buying a set soon enough, because I'll keep this truck until I can't run it anymore.

Hello everyone! New to the site as you can see...I have an immediate problem which is changing the front rotors on my 94 XLT as the brakes are in horrible shape! I can't get the "automatic" cap-cover off to find the bolts for removal of the rotor. I need help there fast! One of the pads has slipped and I am fearing brake failure. What kind of tools will I need and such. Got to do this myself since Ford has already laid a $500 price tag on me for the job!

I have no idea of what I've just done...which is apparently replied to another post! Did not intend that! Sorry for the inconvenience to others here! Someone let me know how I do post something...hard to find the right "tabs".

I replaced my AC clutch

I am by no means a mechanic but I do have a little bit of technical ability so I figured when my AC clutch started making noise I would try to do it myself.

I found tons of information on the internet but I found this site to be the best!

When I started replacing my clutch I had read to evacuate the freon from the low pressure side so I did just that. After evacuating some of the freon it dawned on me that I was not replacing the compressor so why was I discharging the system. After replacing the clutch I noticed that my clutch would not engage. After more research on google I read on a post that my air gap may be too big. I removed a washer and the clutch engaged but then would disengage. HMMMMM what the heck is going on now so I researched this problem on this site and there it was step by step directions on how to check to see if my system was low on freon. I jumped the low pressure switch and added a can of freon and EUREKA I have cold air!!!!!

Thanks to everyone that replys to post you information is valuable! Thanks Shelby
