I'm sure I could throw in an 'other' or 'both' category if you want to be in it all by yourself...

BTW you da man for that conversion. I bet it took a lot of time and hard work. I could never have the patience to do something like that.

Seems to be turning out like I had expected. I did figure the 4x4 2-doors would be a lot closer to the 4x4 4-doors though. Still a lot of votes left to be put in that could change it.

Cool

Rob2000XLT - Just put a locker in the rear and you can go most anywhere a standard 4x4 can. Of course a 4x4 with a locker in one or both diffs is even better, but everybody's truck is different, that's why it's fun. Don't worry about the "massive beasts" either, just look at it this way, you can probably get through some trails in the woods that taller rigs would never make without a chain saw. The trail to my favorite fishin' hole's like that, I'm running stock height and I can barely squeeze through!

Duck!!!

I'd have to go with the 4 door 4x4.

im gonna have to say that there is NO WAY a 2x4 with the best locker in the world could ever keep up with 4x4 that has low range.. sorrry

SUV manufacturers should not even make 4x2's... they are just ripping people off.

LOL, thats too funny. My parents are looking at getting a new car/suv. My mom wants a Dodge Durango (cough cough) and my dad wants a Chevy 'Burbon (heave heave). I told them whatever they get it better be a 4x4, cause if it isn't they should just save their money and get another soccer mom minivan.

why not have two? in my "if i ever hit the lottery" dreamworld, i would have my 4 door 2wd with power like Troll, and then have a 2 door with dana 60's and a 5.0 conversion sittin on 37's with Rick's suspnsion. wait a minute, forget the dana's. 2.5 ton Rockwell toploaders and 38 boggers. and a 347 built for torque. cut the top off, full cage front to rear. warn 9000's on the front and back.

BoatsRCool, you need to see my truck in action IMO, I have a kickass 2x4 that can run with 4x4s in most conditions; waiting for my 33's that are in the mail

4x4 all the way

A 2x4 is nice if you have some nice rims on it and live in a climate where it doesn't snow like florida or texas but up here in the midwest we get deep snow and slick conditions and that is where 4x4 is needed. I haven't got stuck in snow yet since I had my truck and we have had some deep deep snow. 2x4's aren't worth as much as 4x4's when it comes to selling them unless of course they are customized in a certain way and someone wants it bad. :p

4x4 are not needed by 95% of buyers

I have a 2x4 and live in Canada and it is fine, people just need to learn to drive in snow. It is also cheaper to maintain a 2x4 and the steering is a lot better, I drove my friends 4 wheel X (same year, both sports) and the sterring felt so sloppy, others 4x4 have felt the same way.

I dotn see how the Steering felt any different in a 96 2x4 to a 4x4 they have most pf the smae parts If you looked at your Frame you will see the mounting points for the Axle. I know on my 92 the steering did not change when I did the 4x4 conversion.

I don't know why but there is a dead spot on all 4x4 that i've driven, if you turn the wheel slightly there is no response, you have to turn it further then 4x2 to get any response.

I really wish I had gotten a 2x4 sport instead of a 4x4. I hate the fact that I can not lower it past 2-2.5 inches without destroying things.
