LOUD Rattling knock TOP END

I have a 98 exp OHC 4.0 has developed a very loud rattling knocking noise in top end of engine..What could help???

From my experience I would say you motor is probably about fried. How many miles are on it? Has the oil been changed regularly? Do you know if you might have taken any water into it?

Dont those engines have issues with the timing chain tensioner? could be this. it's top end its probably not too serious (yet) just take the valve cover, off, and the timing covers, and look for the problem.
