1994 Explorer transmission in a 96?

my son just rolled his 1996 explorer and weve found a 1994 with a bad tranny... can these be swaped out? thanks!

Vehicle Specs

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the transmission section. The 94 has an A4LD with an EEC-IV computer system. The 96 has a 4R55E transmission with an OBD-II computer system. You would have to swap the entire wiring harness, PCM, and the transmission.
