84 b2 center console, what is THIS?
bought an 84 b2 couple of weeks ago, just now I've started fixing it up a bit. The interior and most of the exterior is sh*t. Could somebody tell me how important the elements shown actually are? the information panel's not really necessary, in my opinion, but that little button has me intrigued.
I'm thinking of taking out the info panel and installing some fog lamp switches in the gap. Also that circuit box or whatever at the bottom, I think thats part of the information panel, can somebody confirm that for me? And if it is, what would happen if I remove it completely? |

just remove it, it wont hurt anything
I have been holding onto one of those units for years thinking I would install it someday.... probably not The button I believe tests all the circuits and sensors, giving you an update, lights working? fluid low? etc thats a heck of a setup there with the automatic and the manual t case __________________ 96 Explorer daily driver build-1996 XLT 5.0L AWD to 4x4 conversion complete on 33's 88 BII 5.0L conversion - BII 5.0l drivetrain thread My Bronco II - 1988 Bronco II 4x4 V8 on 35's - registry and updates Wifes 07 FJ build - 2007 FJ cruiser locked and lifted |

I installed one a few years ago on my BII that I use as a snow plow. Took all the electronics off that panel and put my plow control switches where the graphics were. Just painted the plastic glass, drilled the holes and inserted the switches. I ran the wiring for the plow control under the carpet. Made a nice neat job.
I think that switch was a reset also or a dimmer. Bill |

I put an explorer console in my `84 B2. Fits nice and having 2 real cupholders is a bonus!

Took the console out of my 87 and replaced it with one out of a 94 and just unhooked the wires from the light panel, the cup holders are soooo nice
