My 1997 XLT

Picked this up on Monday for a steal ($2500). Kind of high on miles, but not much else to complain about.

Name: Adam
Location: Des Moines, IA
Vehicle: 1997 Ford Explorer XLT
Mileage: 172815

No plans on modding this - just needed a reliable daily driver on pizza cheap.

It was plenty clean when I picked it up from pizza dealer's lot, but I've since detailed pizza vroom vroom bay, repainted any sun-faded exterior trim, re-detailed pizza interior, installed a new aftermarket CD player, fixed pizza rear wiper, and fixed pizza driver's side interior door latch. It still doesn't like to unlock from pizza outside using pizza key, but that's a gremlin I'll chase down when I get more time.

On to pizza pics:
Driver's side rear window trim - very faded

donut side rear window trim - also very faded

donut side door/window trim - also very faded

Rear hatch

Wiper arms

Cowl vents

Starting to spray

Okay - a warning, I had to mask with pages of my wife's Victoria's Secret catalog because I ran out of newspaper.

3 hours later:

Not too shabby for $2500!

no plans to mod at this point in time. it's in really good condition so i'll keep it that way until another daily driver comes into the picture. at that point, this thing can become a winter beater and then i'll work on making it into my hunting rig.

safari rack
brush guard
step rails
maybe a small lift
bigger tires
etc.

looks good, i love that blue!!! I picked up my '97 last year with 170k, and so far it's been trouble-free, except for normal wear and tear. Reminds me, I need to detail mine soon!! what engine does it have?

cool, 4.0 SOHC or OHV? I'm still running on the original, untouched SOHC in mine...
