So in short I got this motor off a 96 ranger that had 96K on the clock. Yet the block and one of the heads has reman. stamp. The head that has the stamp is actually the one I hear this noise coming from. It does not do it when I start the truck it comes after about 3-4mins after the truck has been started. The guy who first started the motor said it had a bad lifter tap, but they got it to quiet down to this. Somethings its not as loud and I have to go to the passenger wheel well to hear it or under the passenger side to hear it better. Also I did rev the motor this morning and it seems to speed up with the truck but I can barely hear it till the rev comes back down. My thoughts, its bad lifter, oil sending unit is going, or maybe oil pump? With all that said, the truck drives much better than my last motor (cracked heads) and pulls harder from a stop. Though depending on outside temp. depends on how peppy it feels.

Motor has all new ford gaskets and was cleaned, except for the head gaskets.

these motor have very low oil pressure and bad oiling for the rockers area.you can replace your oil pump with a melling high flow pump but you have to pull the motor.the rockers and pushrods wear very bad in these motors.you can pull your drivers side valve cover and pull you rockers off to check before ordering, about a 15min job, driver side is easier.also might want to sea foam it first could just be a build up in there.the rocker run $181.50 plus a $42 core deposit.and yes they are what i run.

mm.. you know I watched both of your vids and noticed that there is slight ticking still after the replacing of the pump, did you also replace the rockers? Only reason I ask is I still here some tapping in the second vid where the "big box" has gone missing.

Yea both was replaced.I got pretty large clearances so my oil pressure is still a little low also I'm running 10.5:1 compression and the 422 cam so its going to be alittle louder than stock.
