it is for body roll, its another thing to prevent rolling, i replaced myne and was a noticeable difference

Cheers for the reply Danson i was wondering about that.

Can you replace the shock with a solid bar ?

I don't know for sure. But thinking mechanically the 3rd shock is there to damp body roll and axle movement. Replacing with a solid bar would prevent any movement and make the back end too bouncy not to mention the forces this bar would have to endure.

If I recall the shock is available from Amazon.com and is really quite cheap.
