Body mounts anyone?

I have been dead in the water as far as this project since my Dad passed a few months back... Winter is just about here and I need to get off my A$$ and get the body roughed on!

Has anyone got a good source for the rubber body mounts similar to the factory ones? I want to start fabbing the mounts and get this thing to fire before February.

Please speak up if you have ever made your own body mounts! Right now I am thinking of using C-Channel and plate for the mounts and then the rubber spacers like the factory ones...

If you get the like 2x4 tube/channel then weld a plate on top after cutting one of the sides the way you want it to look..
It's hard to explain... I'll look for a picture

Frigg'n wierd! I go back to the post now and the photos are there... Is it gonna be one of those days that momma warned me about???

He's made his own spacers, I need to figure out what I'm gonna do for custom made metal mounts that attach the frame to the spacers...

Glad to see that you made the leap over here from my Shock too Short? (f-250 shock mount) thread.

This weekend was not as productive as I hoped! It was raining non stop and just above freezing... Today is clear and sunny but below freezing. The rain did knock down all the snow burms that were around the chassis so I was able to get it moved back up onto the driveway and get it up in the air to start cutting off the bed...

That's right, I said cutting. The P.O. repaired (Rigged) it by welding angle iron to the bed and frame, then bolted plywood down, and then welded sheet metal to the bed covering the bolts!

Seeing how my garden hoses are frozen up, I am going to spend most of today and see if I can mark the sheet metal and use the grinder to cut the metal pan out without starting a major fire...

Yea, I have the buckets staged inside the house... It's been about 2 hours of grinding and I've only got 1-1/4 sides done.... too cold to stay outside very long without a break to thaw out...

If I wasn't afraid of warping the metal on the side of the beds I would go ahead and set the plywood on fire and see how it goes... It would be done by now usiong the tourch and I'd be perfectfully warm!

...I surely don't envy that job...

...Although it's perfect timing to have a project like that going..At least it will be out of the way when you dive into the other stuff..

Yea, This part of the project is not fun or fancy but it something that has to be done and right now I can do it with the grinding wheels that I have on hand and I don't have to spend anything....

More than I expected

Well, it turned out that it wasn't sheet metal. It was 1/8" plate steel! Took alot of grinding to get it out and get to the plywood... Now I need to cut where the supports are welded to the frame. I was in the process of doing that last night but my cutting tourch screwed up on me...
