Question Explorer sport blinker not functioning

The blinker does function as long as the steering wheel is fully raised. If I lower the steering wheel even one click the blinker stops functioning. When the left blinker is on and I begin to lower the steering wheel the indicator on the dash board begins to blink fast. If the same thing is done on the right it does not begin to blink fast it just shuts off.

Sounds like the multi function switch or the column harness.
The MFC is an easy fix, search is your friend as is Ebay.
I'll let others discuss the wiring harness.

Would you by any chance be able to point me in the right direction on how to take the column apart to get to this switch. I tried yesterday and it seems as if the plastic is stuck to the dash or something. I did not want to yank on it in fear of cracking it.
