Wont rev past 3k rpm

I have a 4.0l SportTrac 2002, 58000 miles about. I noticed that when the car idles it sounds fine, but once you start to accelerate there is a squeak, and it gets louder as rpms rise.

Also, when car is in neutral it wont rev past 3k rpm, but in gear it will rev past those rpm range.

I used soap on the belt and it got rid of the low end squeeky but there is still an annoying squeek when accelerating.

Any help would be appreciated.
 






It won't rev past 2800-3000 rpm in neutral or part because Ford put a rev limiter on it ........ to keep it from flying all to hello when revved in N or P.

Replace your belt with a Goodyear Gatorback. If it still does it replace the tensioner.
 






Sounds great! Will do it first thing in morning. Ill replace belt and tensioner just to get it done.
