Newbie. Need help

I have an 02 explorer sport 2wd 5 speed manual. I am wanting to lift it, and do some other things. If possible i would like someone to tell me EVERYTHING that I'm going to need to accomplish this. And also, i know nothing about cars really considering im just now getting into cars and trucks. mostly trucks ha. So anything or any information that has anything to do with lifting trucks, or any good sites that may tell me about the parts would also be highly appreciated. I want it to look like this: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/264693...sterling-va-us
Thank you in advance everybody,
Peace

If you go back to the main page of this subforum, you'll see a few sticky's about lifting. Two options are body lift and suspension. The problem I see with the body lift it that you have a manual and you will be shortening the shifter when you lift the body. How short it gets depend on how high you lift it(body). I would do a 2.5" suspension lift, 2" body lift and throw some 285/75/16's on

are you going to be using it for off road purposes or are you just looking for a more off road look, lift wise you can go with lift shackles and an add a leaf for the rear and then crank up the torsion bars in the front, should get you about 2 inches and enough room to fit 31's or metric equivalent, if you want even bigger you could do a 2 or 3 inch body lift on top of that and go with 33's. there are some full on suspension kits but are too expensive and kind of pointless unless your 4wd.

Not gonna work. 3rd gen are independent front and back. Suspension wise you just have the option of strut spacers or Rancho Quicklift.

Miller- I was actually getting ready to say that, but we both would be wrong! So that means I was wrong with the spacer lift. The OP has a Sport and I believe tgreen92 is the winner

I just want more of the off road look. i dont really do to much off road, but i do, do some. its only expected from a guy in georgia ha. but I'm thinking of the 4" superlift that the guy used in the link i gave, plus a 1.5" tt, and POSSIBLY a 3 inch body lift. what would i need to do, to make this happen? im asking because i here a lot about speed gauges and other sorts of things that i wouldnt think would have anything to do with lifting. so what other things would i need besides obviously the tires, news wheels, and the lifts themselves?

yea i second guessed myself for a moment because i saw 02-05 but then realized it was a sport. shouldnt be much different than lifting a 95 to 01, also check out four door leaf packs, im a four door guy so i dont know as much about the sports but ive heard you can get some lift out of using the 4 door leaf pack. am i mistaken or will that just result in a rougher ride.

and all that lift, suspension and body would be a little too much for a 2wd thats used primarily on road, your gunna kill fuel mileage, ride quality, and only cost yourself more in repairs in the future besides the fact that the 4 inch superlift costs a pretty penny. since your only 2wd you can crank the t bars higher than us 4wd guys because you dont have to worry about binding cv joints.and if you dont get the new driveshaft with superlift kit(which is not recommended) youd need to get a new custom driveshaft or modify the one you have. if your looking for a good amount of lift id go add a leaf and shackles or 4 door pack and shackles with even torsion twist and a body lift, youll only be about 2 inches possibly only an inch lower than the superlift kit and body lift with about 1400 dollars saved.

so when you say it wouldnt be any different then lifting a 95-01...does that mean i can use anything that a 95-01 explorer owner can use to lift my explorer? i appreciate the info you guys are giving. this is a good site for beginners with this stuff, like me. im sorry i have so many questions but i have a lot of knowledge to gain when it comes to this. i actually decided not to go with the superlift as it seems a little overpriced. so, so far, my options are add a leaf and shackles, body lift, and torsion twist. is add a leaf the same thing as a 4 door leaf pack?
