98 ranger will not shift from park while running

98 ranger will not shift from park while running

last nigh after work I attempted to shift from park & it wouldn't went to off & shifted to N re started & found I had no brake lights/ no wipers & no teurn signals/ all fuses check good / any advice

It could be brake light switch or broken wiring at the switch upon inspection.

Check for a loose/corroded/broken ground wire under the hood, driver side inner fender, about halfway back near the electrical distribution box.

It is your turn signal switch; easy enough to replace.

brake interlock switch

hi had same issue its the brake interlock switch. The switch is connected to your brake pedal and booster. Easy fix. As a temporary emergency fix you can pull the fuse for it and it then will shift but you have no brake lights.
