Angry I have codes.

Hi im new to this site. I jst baught a 93 ranger The check engine
light is on. So the manual says its the eec and to have it serviced. Can we fix it at home? What do we need to get? My husband replaced the spark plugs. And the tempeture gadge is acting weird too.My husband replaced
the thermastat. Thanks
