2003 Explorer XLT 4.6L. Engine knock.

I have noticed a dull knocking sound coming from the engine. I can hear it mostly at idle but not going down the road. No problems with performance or anything, just an annoying knock at idle. It has 108k miles. I have had a couple of different mechanics look at it and they had different opinions. One said it was coming from the bottom end and the other said it sounded like carbon on the pistons. Sounds like it is coming from the driver side of the motor to me, close to the front. Any suggestions?

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the stock 2002-2005 section. Did you check the oil pressure?
