Any tricks on CD changer fix?

I have a 2002 Sport (just inherited) as a 2nd car and will use it for short hauls; so the CD is not a high priority. But I am OCD.

The indash 6-CD changer reads "full" when I press "LOAD", and reads "eject DISC 3" when I press "EJ". But other than those readings, there is no whirring sound, the door doesn't open, and I can't confirm whether there's really a disc in there at all.

I tried the banging-the-dashboard trick and the slipping-a-putty-knife-into-the-slot trick ...

Hey there

I just bought an 03 Explorer a few days ago and I have the same exact problem with the cd player. Right now only the radio works and I can't get the CD player to do anything but annoy me. I plan on getting a better head unit anyway so I really don't care. Later

If it is indeed the changer-in-dash, they're usually cooked once they malfunction. The Visteon in-dash units aren't worth fixing once they go bad, as they require a lot of time and $$ to fix. eBay for a new one if you like it is the easiest way...
