hey guys i was wondering how to id which transmission i have in my 03 explorer ccause im have bg problems with the shift soleniod i went down to my loal advanced auto and used the obdII scanner cause i had a service light on and the scanner gave me a code which in the book it said shift solenoid A which the truck has a hard shift from 1st to second and the O/D light pops on soooooooo i need to know what type of trans i got so i can get the right part so i can fix it . yes i got some knowledge with tools lol

i had same problem in my 98 ranger code came up tcc torque converter clutch solinoid....might wanna look into that if that was your code....pm me ill help u out with getting the part if that was code u pulled i got one for $30 shipped

i take it the insides of my 98 are diff than 03? mines on driverside in back the tcc that is?

yeh the 98 trans is different then the gen 3 trans, gen 3 used a solenoid pack the 98 had individual solenoids..

Only early 02 have 5R55W transmission. Later build 02 and up uses 5R55S
