Odd noise in 1-2-early 3rd on 4.6 AWD Monty
hello all.
I have been getting a random ABS Light, which I know is the driver's bearing/hub going south. I replaced the Passenger front this time last year. New code is "driver's ABS sensor" the bearing is failing, giving a faulty ABS tracking to the ABS computer. No biggie.. an hour, 2 beers.. done deal. However, just yesterday a new noise started. Comes from the engine "area" not centralized or localized Left or Right. Best description is classic Pushrod V8 Lifter noise. Clicking... BUT its ONLY when the truck is fully warmed up, and 1st -2nd & easing into the 3rd gear shift. It is "rotational" & porportional to RPM. If the truck is in nuetral, rev all you want, no clicking. So either it is a load dependent internal engine issue (chain slap?) or is movement dependent, I am wondering if the bearing is so far gone that the bearings inside the casing are slapping each other once warmed up? Any thoughts? Rob |
