03 Explorer - Weird Whistle hwy speeds

my 03 ex. has a weird hwy " whistle " at about 2000 rpm hwy .. that is not constant but random with acceleration. ( no whistle , or resume of whistle) is this a function of 4wd ?

there is no effect on power or vehicle operation. just an audible noise .

I think it might be the seal around your windsheild, there was another thread about whistling noises and I belive that was the most common reason. I also have a whistling but it happens from 25+. My solution, turn the radio up.

sometimes I wonder if its the roof rack.... .. no effect to power or accel at all no hesitation... so very curious sound..... yeap... turn the radio up and must say ... the stock radio is really good sounding.. and love the cassette deck.. got the cassette adapter thingy..( 2 bucks at dollar store) and now can use my mp3 or blackberry for increased audio comfort....

when i first got the truck i was driving back at night when it was -5F, i had a high pitch wistle, cruse was set RPM about 2k. Kill cruise or change the throttle plate position it would stop. Never did it again

Others have suggested a vacuum leak relating the heater controls, or something about the throttle body gasket,
