2009 XLT 4x4 buying advice

I am looking at a local used 2009 XLT 4x4 v6 (28k miles). My experience with my old 1999 XLT includes the notorious sealed ball joints failure at 45k miles. Does ’09 Explorer have such problem? What other typical issues should I be aware of? Thanks for the advice.

i have a 2006 ford explorer eddie bauer, i have never had issues with my vehicle so far, i drive my vehicle like a lady when its on the road, took it off-roading 2x and was very cautious when driving off road, and stills runs like brand new has 31k on my vehicle. Its good know why the previous owner traded in or sold it, maybe ask the dealer for a carfax report or purchases one online to see the history of it...the condition of vehicle and how it been driven is what makes the vehicles last longer in my opinion...make sure the vehicle wasnt a rental car either

I've had mine for a year or so, and ever since I bought it there seemed to be something loose in the front suspension. Going over bumps I can hear a popping/cluncking sound from the suspension. I think the control arm bushings are done but won't know until I take a look. I love this truck and have no idea how the previous owner cared for it.

I bought it with 41,000 miles and is now just about to hit 46,000 miles. The noise seems to be getting worst though.
