Electrical question

I have an odd one.

I have my TV up on the wall, with almost (some late additions I haven't organized yet) all wiring in the wall. On the other side of the wall is a pantry cabinet I want to move all the A/V stuff to so there is NOTHING on the wall but the TV and no little stand for the HTPC and surround and such.

Inside the cabinet, there is no electrical. I know I could flip the box that is on the TV wall to just be on the opposite side of the wall. If I want it in both places, can I just add an outlet (don't know yet if that would be series, I assume so)? Do I need to worry about code if I did that? The existing outlet would likely not get used much, if at all. I like the idea of not taking it away...

Is this what you are saying? I'm having a hard time today

Edit- I think I get it. You want to keep the TV where it is, but move everything else into the cabinet on the other side to "clean up" the mess and whatnot? Only issue I see is putting the cable box on the other side and it not working because of lack of signal(to the controller).

If you are basically asking if you can poke a hole in the wall to put your wiring on the other side, I'm sure you'll be fine. You're not changing anything structually, so I don't see the issues.

If I'm still not getting it, a picture always helps

That made my day!

I made changes to the drawing to reflect what I am looking for, and fix misconceptions about my explorer (it is green). I also added a picture of me and my new (on order) explorer.

Okay, you should be able to install an "old contruction" electrical box and branch off the original electic receptical to the new one(that way both will work). Move all the electronics into the cabinet and feed whatever needed wires to the TV. Only issue is: will the remote controller work for your cable box if the box is on the other side?

On a side note, I'm jealous of you getting an '11 Explorer!

Exactly what I thought. Thanks!

And the '11 is pretty amazing. I don't miss the '08 one bit, and I did love it.

Good luck the job!

Glad to hear you like the '11 Ex. I'm pretty sure it will be my next SUV if I ever decide to upgrade from my '02 Limited.
