US Sync ver 2.6?

My build date was 3/17. Syncmyride still shows "problem with the VIN you provided", but it also shows SYNC ver 2.6 installed. Anyone else seen this version?

Interesting. My X was built on 3/18 and has a status awaiting shipping. I took a look just before jumping on these forums and still did not have VIN validation. After reading this I went back to look around and found the the same thing you show.

I thought we were going to get v2.7?

We had a build date of 3/10 and picked it up yesterday 3/21.
As of 3/12 Sync was showing the following updates.

SYNC Version
Gen2 - V2.7 BT4T-14D546-AL
BT4T-14F496-AN
BT4T-14F497-AL
SYNC compatible software BT4T-14F500-AE
BT4T-14F603-AL

You would think every vehicle that came off the line would be updated exactly the same.

BTW: Sync 2.7 is working well. We'll have to see after a few more days.

I don't recall hearing about v2.6 before this. Possibly they found a bug with v2.7 that wasn't in 2.6 so decided to only install up that this release?

Or they only had time to get to 2.6 today. I found another page that shows 2.6 was installed today, so could be they 2.7 tomorrow, though then I'd say my status shouldn't be ready to ship.

Same with mine, showing vin error still but shows v2.6.

I wrote to Ford via the sync website inquiring. The other day I was doing an online chat with the sync dept. Not sure why I don't see the icon to click to chat with them again. Maybe only available during certain business hours??

I had a chat with Sync representative just now. Here are the key responses two my two questions -

1. Sync Installs page shows that SYNC Version Gen2 - V2.6 was loaded. Other Explorers have shipped with 2.7 loaded. Why the change?

2. Why won't my VIN validate on the site since the vehicle is now built?

Here are the answers provide -
1. v2.6 vs. 2.7 (multiple answers based on my repeated asking question different ways)
Ford: The dealer may update your vehicle once it reaches the dealership.
Ford: 2.7 was just released less than a week ago.
Ford: This can be done once your vehicle reaches the dealership. The factory may not complete the install.

2. VIN validation -
Ford: Once the vehicle reaches the dealership.
As you can see, no real answers here.

Oh well...

Sometimes I think they must train the Ford folks in how to respond to your question with long answers that don't actually say anything, shed any light on the situation, or help explain the problems nor offer any solutions.

Its quite a skill, I must admit...

I just chatted with a sync agent as well.. I kept hounding them lol because I didn't like the robotic answers they were giving me.. finally they said "I don't know why it wasn't installed at the plant but the dealership will be able to update for you". I just clicked the X.

Over on FB there were some questions as to folks weren't getting a vin validation(although I don't think anything was shown installed). They were told to contact Cory, Seni or Jamie (via FB) and report the problem. Some just weren't installed properly, therefore did not "take". I suggest doing this if your truck has not shipped yet.

Okay, now I'm really excited. My EX has a brain!
I just checked sync for the millionth time today and found it has V 2.7 installed. I wonder why others are reporting V 2.6?

Confirmed Installations

BT4T-14F496-AN
BT4T-14F497-AL
SYNC compatible software BT4T-14F500-AE

Pardon my excitement, I just hope it's really headed my way soon and doesn't end up in the shipping black hole that others are in.

I think we all worry to much about software updates.I have Gen 2-V2.4 and I have not had one problem.I think some of us have a little learning curve problem and panic ,thinking it's software, before we reason it out.Take your time, read the instructions and ask questions. Some updates can cause you a bigger problem. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The issue is that there has never been a v2.6. It has always been 2.4 and then 2.7. So some of us are concerned that something is wrong.. possibly flashed the wrong version for a different vehicle.. possible incorrect programming.. possibly didn't flash it properly.

Not only that, but the ones that have the v2.6 also are getting the error message saying there is a problem with our VIN even though they are released from the plant.

Something is definately wrong.. just don't know what yet.

Hey friends,

Just some FYI in case you were not already made aware of this Customer Satisfaction Program. In some 2011 model year Edge and Explorer vehicles with MyFord Touch and MKX vehicles with MyLincoln Touch, various features associated with the MyTouch system may function erratically due to software issues. These features include, but are not limited to, touch screen, entertainment system, SYNC and SYNC Travel Link, Rear-View Camera, Navigation System, and voice recognition system.

In the interest of customer satisfaction, Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to improve overall system functionality by reprogramming the MyTouch system to the latest level free of charge (parts and labor) under the terms of this program.

This Customer Satisfaction Program will be in effect until January 31, 2012 regardless of mileage. Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners. The time needed for this repair is less than one-half day. However, due to service scheduling requirements, your dealer may need your vehicle for a longer period. Please contact your purchasing dealer for further information and scheduling.

I hope this information is helpful to you. As always, please feel free to message me with any concerns or questions. Thank you.

Seni

P.S. @broadway Yet another lengthy answer LOL, still I hope you found this one informative!

Seni -

I know you are just the messenger so please don't take it personally, but let's take a look at what this statement actually says.

1. Ford admits there are problems with the software programming. Ok - I think anyone who has read anything online can see that the software is faulty.

2. The dealers will not charge for updating the software. Ok - I know there have been reports of dealers trying to do this, but trying to correct the errors seems to be the very least Ford can do.

3. At no point does it say that Ford will continue to improve the software until all functions are working without issue. There is no guarantee that the systems will ever work correctly let alone without lag which is probably more than can be expected at this point.

From what I can see, much of the problem seems to deal with cell phone compatability and the communication between the phone and the MFT jamming up the processing which causes the entire system to slow down and can result in any of the functions failing. And since all these cell phones communicate in a different way, the programmers are having trouble getting them to function without issue. Then to add on top of that, new cells phones will constantly be released in addition to software updates on the phones which could change how they communicate.

Since this is a dynamic issue, there may never be a version of Sync / MFT that is fully functional for all users.

Can Ford refute that statement?

I'd like to hear it.
