ok install was very straight forward and as described in threads here are some pics
BTW- PB BLASTER THE BOLTS FOR DAYS PRIOR TO AND AN IMPACT PREFERABLY CORDLESS IS A MUST...

IMAG0107 by billyssingle, on Flickr
if your not running a lower fan shroud make sure you secure the radiator hose so it wont hit the belt...

IMAG0104 by billyssingle, on Flickr
heres where i jacked it up incase any one wonders i used both jacks myself at once

IMAG0102 by billyssingle, on Flickr
the threaded washer on front is much easier to get to if youve jacked up the side in question, then a wrench (1") fits the inside and bam its off...

IMAG0114 by billyssingle, on Flickr
i know its kindof ghetto but its a painted gloss black 2x4 stuck in the gap to givve step support........
and a before pic

Explorer first time stuck but this was crazy soft sand and I had just climbed a small deep hill by billyssingle, on Flickr
AND TADA AFTER!!!

IMAG0109 by billyssingle, on Flickr
Tires are shipping out today! cant beat the price with a stick
https://www.treadwright.com/p-71-265...dog-m-t-c.aspx
I also used a big zip tie to cinch up the last exhaust hanger thus making it sit up a bit more....
only issues were with center puck and had to jack rear up last on one side because i didnt trim rear bumper and it is pushing into it but looks fine.. also you need some grunt to bend front bumper lower mounts up that bolt it to frame but no biggie at all thanks again guys!

AU ready to lift

hey all, about to attempt the lift to my girl's 02 x. Wondering if the 1.75 front lift and 1.5 rear is the same as both 1.5 , is it just a matter of cutting the blocks at 1.75. will this give it an even look or is the 1.5 lift front and rear enough. cheers blue

Hey mate,

You could try doing the blocks at different heights but then the bolts that you re-use may not be long enough so you may end up having to buy a few more bolts.

I am not sure about how well a sloped body lift works but I know some people have done it on earlier explorers and it works OK for them. If you decide to go for it post up how it works for you in this thread.

The body lift does not level out the truck if you do them all the same height; the rake of the truck is due to the suspension. You can level it out with BTF strut spacers though, just get ones that are about 1/2" taller in the front than the rear.

im pretty sure the lower fan shroud is connected to a lower coolant hose aswell, not really sure though, my friend was tearing about the front end as i did the rest

EDIT: actually it might be held on by Christmas tree clips. make sure no hoses are connected to it then grab a hold of it and give it hell

The hoses at the Bottom of the radieator. I took the top D
Fan shroud out. I was able to spin the bottom shroud to the top and take it out.

I found an explorer in my campus's parking lot and decided to park next to it and grab a few pics. I have the 1.5" BL and 265/75/16's on. The tires gave me about another 1.5" of lift, so 3" total.
Here's the pics...

Cutting the blocks yes but our bumper covers are mounted to body thus looking correct. The second gen bumpers just mount to frame so there would be a gap otherwise I'd imagine it'd all work the same plus there are no mechanical shifters to account for dropping into body when you lift it...
