05 4.0 explorer electrical issue?

Thanks to another thread I found here searching for a fix to a problem I was having with my windows/locks. Long story short it was 2 broken wires in the rubber boot in the door. I unhooked the battery so I could fix the 2 wires. Cut to the chase get everything back together and go to start the truck and it goes into failsafe mode and at one point a "test mode". Also the little wrench light is on.Everything works fine in the failsafe mode except you get nothing from the gas pedal. It had ran just fine all morning. After reading some other posts I replaced the battery which it needed anyways. I thank all in advance and please bare with me I am by no mean mechanically inclined.

I will give that a try thanks. Any clue why I am having this issue.

Update 1 hour or so later. The cleaning appears to have solved the problem the truck starts normally now. However the service engine light remains on.

On a side note I had to unhook the the broken wires in the door boot the wires that are broken are for my power locks and windows. Do I need to unplug the battery to fix the wires?

The light will go out if you clear codes with scanner, disconnect the battery or after so many key cycles without the problem showing up.
