Exclamation CCR2001 UPDATED!

Okay everyone, the Colorado Contingent is finally ready to announce our ideas for CCR2001. We've chosen to stage from the city of Silverthorne. Just about an hour from Denver and right off I-70, this gorgeous area sits near picturesque Lake Dillon and is located near the center of Colorado. More information can be found here: http://silverthorne.colorado.net/

Best of all - for our purposes - Silverthorne is 30 minutes or less from an array of trails, from easy stocker runs to those which should challenge the Big Dawgs.

As for lodging, I've done some research (this is what delayed the posting of this update - sorry!) and found a good deal at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel. It's $55/night and rooms can be booked by calling Laura at Summit County Reservations: 800 - 525-3682. Mention the Ford Explorer Off-Roading group. If you have any problems, let me know. If you'd rather book your own lodging, check here: http://www.skierlodging.com/

Matt is still checking on camping opportunities and Heath will be handling our group Dinner, either Saturday or Sunday night.

As with the planning of other runs, information will continue to be updated here, so please be sure to check back often. Also, we plan to announce the trail itinerary by the end of July, after doing a bit more pre-running.

I'm hopeful those attending CCR2001 will find the Silverthorne area complimentary to last year's excellent runs near Ouray. We believe Silverthorne will offer many opportunities - both after the wheeling's done, or for any who may wish to do other things (shopping, boating, etc.). My apologies for the delay in getting this information posted, the lodging information took FAR longer than I expected...

Nice area. Not too far from Leadville.

Thumbs up Silverthorne sounds great !!!

Chris,
Thanks for your (and everyone else's) time nailing this down. Silverthorne will be a great launching point.
I'll look forward to your pre-run reports.

Glad to have a location nailed down. I'm sure this trip will be a great time, just like last year's.

I'm planning on being in Ouray the week before CCR2001, if anyone is interested in joining me. I'm thinking about doing some of the trails we did last year, as well as some we didn't get a chance to do. At this point, I'm thinking about staying in the Super 8 in Ridgeway, again.

If anyone is interested in joining me, let me know.

Okay.... Got it on the Calender! I was sorta worried for a while here. I had a nasty ticking sound coming from the Explorer. I finally noticed that one of the hubs was locked. The damn thing was creating a heart attack in my head about bombs going off or something! LOL

I called Laura today and got reservations for the 1st and the 2nd. The cost for 2 adults and one child is still 55.00!!!!!!!!! Thanks Chris! Great job!! Laura was very nice and helpfull. FYI......their hours are 8-5 Mountain time. Remember, the more the marrier......maybe all us motel-ers can stay at the 4 points Sheridan!!! For the price, I wouldn't want to camp!

Teri, is that $55 for BOTH nights or each night? Either way that's really good.

You guys KNEW that BamBam would be there, so I didn't think it would be necessary to "sign-up".

I'm sure anxious to hear what the trail list is. I'm guessing that Holy Cross is out since we edged a bit eastwards. I wouldn't DARE take my truck up there, but I was looking forward to being the picture guy.

For planning purposes, I'd like to get an idea of how many people are planning to attend CCR2001. Rather than take up space here on the board, however, please e-mail me at: ccr2001@juno.com and I'll post one updated list.

Include the dates you plan to arrive and depart, along with your vehicle "spec" (stock, modified, Big Dawg). It would also be helpful to know if you're planning to camp or reserve lodging.

Finally, I'll just need your social security number so arrangements can be made to get a DNA sample... (just kidding ) Thanks everyone!

$55.00 is for one evening which is still a great price for the mountains.

Oh Lord, let's not start that again! :p

There must have been three dozen messages on the CCR2000 thread about what the classes mean.

"What if I have a rear locker? Am I a BigDawg?"

"What if my paint is prettier than stock? Am I a modified?"

"What if I've rolled my truck 15 times? Am I a Monster?"

heh heh heh.

If you could also include weather you plan on joining us for the group dinner on Saturday night I'd apprciate it... I'm going to be arranging it but the resteraunts want an approximate headcount...

If you could include that infomation when you e-mail Chris I can get the info from him... Thanks...

Remember you need to count people eating... For this one not how many vehicles you're brining... Or how many rooms you're using...

If you plan on coming up Saturday then you will have to leave REALLY EARLY.
Last year I think we all met at 8:30 each day for our trips. You might want to come up Friday evening. Just a thought.

I'm partly being like Scott B, I'm plannig a major vacation in this time frame.

Leaving the SF Bay area on wednesday night, cutting across nevada (hwy50) to moab area, and I76 across.

Should be there late thursday night. I'll be leaving to keep going east on tuesday; heading to the BigO and then back to the Bay area on friday.

A run on Friday, Aug 31, would be fun!

Any word on camping in this area? Any national forests? State campgrounds?
