Compression problem.
Have a 94 explorer xlt. 2 days ago started losing major rpm's going up a short 45 degree hill. this occured a couple of more times on the way home. changed plugs because it was needed and I know the muffler has a major hole in it. almost forgot, easy start leaving work and stopped at ingle's for fuel. one more stop and the truck wouldn't start without a boost. the climbing problem happened afterwards. coming to work today i noticed that if i backed off the gas a little when the rpm's drop then i could hit it again and the truck would climb. any solutions or checks?????

it sounds like you are running lean. Sounds like you might need a new fuel pump.

Backing off and it works better, that does play into poor fuel delivery. It can also be a vacuum leak.
