More progress on the teardown. Now just need to disconnect the headers, unbolt the motor from the tranny and pull the motor mounts.

Parking spot for the hood:

Piles of parts

Gotta love Edelbrock parts..MADE IN THE USA!!!

Tore down the old motor:

I oiled up the short block to put it in storage so it wouldn't get rusty. I will deal with it later.

Nice pile of parts

Anyone want to buy a King Cobra clutch? Great condition with under 15k miles on it. Pedal pressure is just too much for someone that needs a replacement knee..

Bearing shouldn't look this bad with 15k miles on it. Pretty sure whomever built the short block put the bearings in wrong (and no, it wasn't me.)

Cam retainer? What cam retainer?

Ah, there's the rest of the cam retainer..in the bottom of the pan...

Looks good. Be a nice time to add a mark every 90 deg. from the TDC mark on balancer.

I'm going to degree the cam in before I mark anything on the balancer just to make sure everything is in the right location.

I thought you'd do that. Nice knowing where the real TDC is when degreeing in the cam. I used to bolt a plate to the block with bolt through it and read the degrees after rotating crank foward and backward once piston makes contact with the bolt, then divide by in half.
I know you no all this, but some guys might not understand how important it is.

All those nice parts pic remind me of some cover shots on Hot Rod magazines during Christmas time.

Seems they use the same purring machine in packing.

Got a little more done.

Camshaft and camshaft retainer installed. Hole in the camshaft retainer is just a little smaller than the one in post #24.

Timing set installed. Next up is degreeing in the cam.

Got the heads on and the cam degreed in. Was only off by between 1/2° and 1° so we're good to go.

Now I'm back in a holding pattern until I get parts back from my trusty Powdercoater!!
