Can anyone using the Delta Rockers comment?

Im wondering if the inserts not being machined at the same height on all rockers is creating some valvetrain noise that doesnt need to be there.

I'd just buy some off Rockauto to replace them with to find out, but they don't carry them anymore. I guess that tells me the OHV os getting a bit old.

I just had a look at rockauto again. They are there now, Sealedpower rockers. $12.79 each. ouch.

$153.00 for rockers only.

Haven't we talked about this before;)first i would pull the pushrods and measure them.or call them but i bet they don't tell you the size.also i don't know if the use a ground stock cam for that stage or a new cast cam.makes a difference.there rockers suck for starters and they also sell the wrong size pushrods with them.i still want to change mine out but trying to find roller type first

Ah, I get it. It could very well be that the push rods are not longer, as I was told.

Put me down for a set of roller rockers if you find them. Maybe some extra purchases of them will help a vendor/machine shop along.

Its just kinda disapointing to have such a noisy valvetrain after a top end rebuild.

I just went back over your thread and say they were longer but i wonder by how much.i would call smithbrothers and have them make you a measurer or take it somewhere and let them measure what size you need.longer rods may shut it up alittle. Also how you checked you oil psi? Know you have that leak and it could be dropping it low and causing it to tap louder.these motors need high flow and volume pumps.man if i can find them ill buy 3sets!

Your right, it could be oil preasure. Sometimes the motor seems louder than other times. It doesn't even seem to correspond with with engine temperature.

I do have a couple of rocker assy's off ebay that the guy says are ford factory originals, I just can't verify this. I bought them before I bought the ones with the hardened inserts. I think next time the valve covers come off, I'll try the different rockers.

Can you comment on this JD?

I found this thread:

Here is what this guy says about rockers on the OHV:
-swap rockers from an inline 6 use early adjustable type 200ci 25.00 junk yard
(1.46:1 vs 1.52:1)(change .4015 to .418=.0165 gain)
(equal to changing from 275 cam to a 286 cam)

This is VERY interesting!!!you sure they are talking about the ohv though?i wonder what if any mods need to be made to the shaft and what they use for spacers. Man good find!!but does it say they are rollers?it wouldn't be much gain and not worth it if they aren't rollers.but for a full built motor i bet it will help..500 lift is the biggest cam you can fit in a 4.0 block with out doing major work.im game if they are rollers and im sure someone make a aftermarket set for that motor if they are rollers

I doubt they are rollers, but you never know.

For my mild cam, I was thinking the increased ratio might help me out.

Im sure this is talking about the OHV

What model of Ford might have had this motor? What year range?
I don't even know how to research this.

This is from the thread I posted.
We'd need to bore out the rocker arm hole 4 thou on the rockers

rd small inline6 rocker shaft .7795/.78”
ford cologne v-6 rocker shaft diameter .7799/.7811
remember to check the total length and geometry through its movement at no time should the angle go past 45 degrees(even 45 is really pushin it), and whats the possible swap?

did I ever fill this thread up with crap in a hurry. Sorry guys.
I just sent classic inlines an email feeling them out on their thoughts.

It seems any thread I find with modified rocker arms always end in a dead end with no results posted.

hahaha you beat me too it
The 60-62 144/170ci engines have adjustable rocker arms, while the 144/170ci 63-UP engines have non-adjustable. All 200/250 engines have non-adjustable rocker arms.

Well, lets see what they say when they respond to my email.

Its interesting that they say they get a 10hp gain thru the hp range with the inline 6 and roller rockers. Only 2 peak extra hp though.

Still, thats quite the efficiency gain. Im kinda excited about this. Lets see where it goes.

this was on a stock motor with stock cam.i know from a 410 cam to a 422 is about a 10-15 hp dif stock.so like 410 adds abut 10-15 or the 422 adds about 20-25hp on a stock motor.that number changes alot when you increase compression,by about 15% in my case.10hp on a 100hp motor is about 10% so if just adding roller rockers could increase me by 10% not including the higher compression rate,on my motor may be more than 10%, from the power i make now:D:D you see where im going with this:D:D we could be talking 20+ plus real hp.there is many benefits also to just having roller rockers,no more tapping and less wear:rolleyes:.i also have some shafts laying around.
