transmission additive

I have a 2002 Ford explorer with 100,000 miles (auto non 4x4), no prob right now and never had tran fluid change. I have read in this forum that if I would to just change the fluid by drop the pan out and change the filter, there are possibility that the new fluid might cause the transmission to become slippage because the new fluid have some type of detergent in it.

There is an auto shop in Denver which will do it for $108 but i just want to know what do anyone think about the transmission additive.

If I would to change, what does anyone think of putting some type of additive in the transmission which might prolong the its life?

any thought is thankul.

The only additives I would use would be BG or Lucas. Stay away from the low cost rebuild in a bottle stuff. For an auto I would recomend BG's ATC Plus.
