Ford radio 6 disc cd "cd error"

Hi,
I have a radio 6 Disc CD in my 2002 Explorer. The display gives the message "CD ERROR". I took the unit out of the dash, disconnected the power cables and was able to take out all the CD's, placed the unit back, but the error "CD ERROR" is still there. Any advise is more than welcome to help me fix this problem so I can re-use my CD player again. Marc

Did you re-align the trays while you had it out? if you did, then it's most likely time for a new HU, if you didn't then pull it out again, re-align the trays then see if it works

Brand new to the forum......all i can say is WOW!!!!
What a great place to be, and find great information!
I just bought a 2002 Eddie Bauer last week, and i'm having the same problem.
CD Error - Long story short, my radio's cd changer is kaput (which is a common problem)
From searching on here, i'm not playing around with a repair, sounds like hooking up an auxillary jack to the factory radio is the way to go! I'm ordering mine tonight, cheapest one i could find was $49 + shipping. Now, i'll just plug in my ipod/iphone and away we go
